Community engagement is central to the Smart Coast Initiative, with over 25 workshops conducted since 2019 in Corpus Christi, Ingleside on the Bay, Portland, Port Aransas, and Gregory. These workshops harness local knowledge and experiences, fostering collaboration to develop innovative, practical solutions tailored to each community’s needs.

More than 200 UTA students have been involved in these projects, contributing to engaged learning experiences while helping to build trust and gather feedback. This approach ensures that strategies are responsive and well-supported by residents, enhancing the sustainability and effectiveness of the initiative’s projects.
